E-mail Stampa PDF
In-service training is a period spent at the European Food Safety Authority enabling trainees to acquire practical experience by means of their work and to put into practice the knowledge they have learnt during their academic studies or professional careers in the areas of science, communication or administration.

In-service training takes place within the fields of activity of the European Food Safety Authority. You are kindly invited to consult EFSA organigram to identify the organisation area you may be interested in:  EFSA Organisational Chart http://www.efsa.europa.eu/efsa_rep/repository/images/ico_pdf.gif (0.1 Mb)

·         What is the purpose? The purpose of this call is to create a database of eligible (eligibility criteria defined on the “Decision on the acceptance of trainees” here below) candidates which will be used by the Authority in order to select the trainee applications which better suit EFSA’s needs. Every application will have validity for one year from the date of its submission; it will be responsibility of the candidates to re-submit their applications once expired if they wish so and still fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

There are two types of in-service training:

  1. Preparation of a thesis for an advanced university degree - This type of training is for people who are attending university or an equivalent educational institute and are preparing an advanced degree thesis or  its equivalent. The purpose of the training would normally be directly related to the subject of the thesis.
  2. Training after university education (or its equivalent) - This type of training is for young people who have obtained a university degree or equivalent diploma.

What are the conditions? The call is open to citizens of EU Member States of the European Communities and Acceding Countries. Traineeships are offered for a minimum of six up to a maximum of twelve months.

This call and the form are only available in English. Candidates are kindly invited to fill in their application form in English, in order to facilitate the selection process.

You are kindly invited to read carefully the EFSA Executive Director’s decision of 10 January 2013 on the acceptance of trainees for an in-service training before filling in the expression of interest form.

(automatically executed by the application).

When selecting the trainees, EFSA shall take into account the applicants’ qualifications and the needs of the Authority.  Priority shall be given to applicants on the basis of the results obtained during their studies.

How is the selection process structured?
After the screening, eligible applications will be available for the assessment by the EFSA Units. Phone interviews will be organised by the Units in order to identify the candidate better responding to their needs. Successful candidates will be contacted to agree on the starting date and will receive a placement offer signed by the Executive Director.

EFSA receives many traineeship applications each year. As a result EFSA is not in a position to reply to unsuccessful candidates interviewed. Candidates who are not contacted in one month after the phone interview can assume they have not been chosen.

Trainees will be awarded a grant of € 1.071,19 per month.

Trainees’ positions are granted within the budget availability, It is expected that no more than 25 trainees per year will be taken by EFSA while the demand is expected to be over a few thousands applications.
